Professor Erwin Loh

Current Position: Professor Erwin Loh is the Chief Medical Officer at Victoria’s largest health service, accountable for the professional governance of over 2,000 doctors and research governance across the organisation.
Experience and Qualifications: Besides being a specialist medical administrator, he is also a barrister and solicitor with the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia.

Prior to his medical management role, he trained as a psychiatrist and worked as a lawyer in health law and insurance. Besides his medical and law degrees, he also has an MBA, a Master of Health Services Management and a PhD, with his thesis focusing on doctors in senior hospital management.

Expertise: He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, Australasian College of Health Service Management and Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Monash University where he teaches health law and health services management, and Associate Professor at the AIB where he leads health services research and supervises doctoral students. He is the Victorian Chair of Board of Studies for the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and is a member of the Victorian Ministerial Consultative Council for Clinical Trials Research.

He and select team members of Monash Health are currently undertaking research in Work-Applied Learning at Monash Health in collaboration with AIB.
