Work Readiness Programme for Graduates

The Work-Readiness (WR) Programme for Graduates is designed to enable graduates to develop the people skills which are essential for them to add value to their organisation as quickly as possible. This programme can be customised for general staff development.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from WRIA Facilitators Where there is a licensing arrangement in place (see below for details), the in-built support is provided by licensed Programme Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

Each participant will undertake a real-life Work-Readiness project to develop their people skills. As they undertake their duties at the workplace, the participants will apply the knowledge they acquire to develop essential skills such as working with others, communication, problem-solving, taking feedback and time management and to reflect and learn from their experiences.

Participants will complete a project plan, monthly reflective reports and a final report on their experiences and future plans.

Licensing Arrangements
  • This programme can be licensed by Global Centre for
    Work-Applied Learning (GCWAL) to corporations,
    associations and public sector organisations for
    facilitation to their employees.
  • The financial arrangements will be set out in the licensing agreement.
  • This programme will be facilitated by a pool of GCWAL-approved Programme Facilitators engaged by the Licensee.
  • In order to be approved by GCWAL as Programme Facilitators, they must :
    • undertake the Change through Action Learning Programme, and have
    • a relevant postgraduate qualification, and at least 3 years of management experience in working with teams and managing projects.
  • The programme facilitators will be monitored by GCWAL Programme Advisors for quality assurance purposes.

Effective Entrepreneurial and Intrapreneurial Programme

The Effective Entrepreneurial and Intrapreneurial (EEI) Programme, through an unique blend of concepts and practice, instils in participants the working knowledge needed for dealing with entrepreneurial management issues and changes of today. By working in teams, entrepreneurs and their team members critically review their practices, identify an area for improvement and change and plan and implement an entrepreneurial change project.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from WRIA Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

Each participant will develop a report which comprises the plan for the Entrepreneurial Change Project, and the implementation process, including their project
outcomes, individual critical reflections and lessons learnt,
as well as the team’s learnings and reflections.

Facilitative Leadership Programme

The Facilitative Leadership (FL) programme is designed to enable graduates to develop the people skills which are essential for them to add value to their organisation as quickly as possible. This programme can be customised for general staff development.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from WRIA Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

In this programme the participant will learn to analyse their style of leadership and shift
towards a more facilitative, collaborative leadership approach, create team empowerment, foster and promote transparency, respect
and positive relationships, create a relationship of partnership
with their team, mediate conflicts with sensitivity, and proactively seek feedback on their
leadership style.

Negotiated Manager Development Programme

The Negotiated Manager Development (NMD) Programme provides opportunity for new managers and current managers, who are moving into a new business or management area, to develop an understanding about that discipline in order to be work-ready in that new role. The themes of this DNM Programme will be related to individual development in business or management through a work-based learning project and process.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from GCWAL Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

Organisations and participants have to be clear about what they want to achieve from the NMD programme. They should think through precisely what they would like to achieve, the boundaries within which they have to work, the resources available to them and the timescale involved. 

They will need to consider the learning and development questions as shown in the diagram. The questions raised in the diagram will enable the participants to identify their learning and development needs in consultation with their immediate supervisor.

They will then undertake a work-based project to address such learning and development needs.

Participants will complete a project plan, monthly reflective reports and a final report on their experiences and future plans.

Human Resource Management Projects

The Human Resource Management Projects (HRMP) programme is designedto build the human resource management skills of the participants such as understanding of the concepts of human resource management and how to use those concepts to achieve the objectives of an organisation’s strategy.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from WRIA Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

In this programme the participant will produce the following deliverables a plan for their WR project, a monthly reflective report on the improvement
of their human resource management skills; and an implementation report, which integrates the monthly reflective reports with a summary of the
participant’s reflections on the improvement of their human resource management skills in the context of self, self in relation to others and self as part of a team.

Work Based Management Learning Projects

The Work Based Management Learning (WBML) Projects is designed to enable the managers to understand the concepts and practices of Action Learning and Reflective Practice and Facilitation, in the context of Work-Based Learning, and how these can be used for planning and implementing Work Based projects to achieve effective workplace improvement and thus develop their facilitative workshop skills.

This programme is delivered over 3 months, with in-built support from GCWAL Facilitators.

What Does the Programme Involve?

In this programme the managers and their organisations will identify the relevant business or management skills and knowledge that will benefit the individual managers as well as the
needs of their organisation.

Each participant will produce the following deliverables a work-based project plan, a monthly reflective report on the initial implementation
of the work-based project plan; and a project implementation report, integrating the monthly
reflective reports and a summary of the participant’s reflections on the development of the work-based project.
